Welcome to the P1 blog pages!
As we "blog" about our work in class, the articles will appear below; along with any photos we have uploaded to our class gallery, which you can view here.

P1 have had a tremendous year so far this and been very busy. One of our highlights has been ‘hatching’ our very own dinosaur in class and looking after it. This led to a topic on dinosaurs which was enjoyed by all. The children led the learning by asking questions and deciding what they would like to learn. They then created a habitat in our role play area where the dinosaurs could live having looked at books and posters and on the internet. They created artwork, stories and even did dinosaur related maths e.g how tall they were, counting characteristics and using dinosaurs to add with. We read non-fiction books about dinosaurs and brought in lots of information from home which they could share with their friends. We checked regularly that we had answered our questions from our original planning but what happened to the dinosaurs has not yet been solved....lots of interesting suggestions though!
We have also just completed a topic on our body and senses and my, what a lot of information they knew! They enjoyed baking and ‘Wake Up Shake Up’ in the playground. Circuit training in the gym kept their fitness levels up too and they were very creative making their own dances.
Recently Primary 1 has been exploring the World of Snakes! They have discovered lots of amazing facts about their sizes, habitats and even what sort of food they like to eat! We managed to create “Subtraction Snakes “and have most recently shared our learning with the rest of the school at our Assembly.
We have been taking a keen interest in our surroundings and our beautiful garden within the grounds. The children have discovered lots of different plants and shrubs and can name them. Very shortly they will be planting their own seeds and we hope to be able to sell some lovely sunflowers as part of our Enterprise topic. Please look out for our flower stall shortly!
We have lots more to look forward to in Primary 1 and lots of hard work to do. We hope you have enjoyed looking at our work.
