February 2012
This term we have had great fun learning all about Katie Morag and Scotland. The children have really enjoyed reading the stories. We have been using these as a stimulus for art, drama, story writing and dancing. We always have an imaginative part of the classroom and the children asked for it to be the ferry which goes to the Isle of Struay. They have had great fun fishing and going on big adventures.

The children created fabulous charcoal drawings of Katie Morag's house! They have also made a display of Struay Island which has all the houses, farms and boats on it.
As this topic is based in Scotland, we have been looking at maps of our country and finding where we live. We have been thinking about how our life might be different from living on a small island.
We are going to bring all of our learning together in a party on Friday 10 February. This will be a chance to show off the ceilidh dancing we have been learning!
Miss Millar has been with us all term and we are going to miss her lots when she leaves us!
