Titanic Art!
A few weeks ago an excited P4/5 arrived for their art lesson waving a sealed envelope! Together we read the enclosed task - to work together to construct a 3D model of the Titanic !
The pupils consulted images of the ship and possible backgrounds then set about producing a large frieze of the ship at sea. In groups they painted a beautiful starry sky using different shades of blue and a dark, chilly sea using different blocks of colour to create movement in the water.
The ship was made in parts with different pupils adding the details - portholes, railings, flags, funnels and an anchor.

The finished ship is very impressive and makes an eye-catching display in the upper corridor along with the menacing icebergs ready to greet it!

The pupils enjoyed the task so much they asked if they could paint their own individual ships. These were painted using watercolours and show great attention to detail.
