In art this term P5 have been using recycled materials to make Viking collages. Lots of people brought in old materials for this project like pasta, jewels, paper, wool and cardboard. P5 really enjoyed this project because of the variety of materials we were able to use.
For the Viking head task we worked in groups to design a collage containing a Viking’s head and shoulders. We found it challenging working in groups as there were lots of decisions to be made and we did not always agree with each other!
We had to listen to the members of our group and communicate well. We had to find solutions that suited everyone. We were really pleased with the final results and surprised how good they were!
The second task was to work in pairs to make a collage of a longboat using the same type of recycled materials. We found it easier to work in pairs because there was more for each of us to do. It was also easier to agree with each other.

| 'Eric the Viking' by Alistair, Matt, Edward and Robbie L. Eric was made using fur fabric from an old collar, spare pasta and scraps of paper. |
'Viking Longships' by Marta and Caitlin. The sea in this picture was coloured with pens then covered with bubblewrap. The sky is made from a roll of unused paper toilet roll!!! |
| Charlotte and Freya used old carrier bags to make this beautiful sea. All of the collages were stuck on to old cardboard collected from shops. | Molly and Rachel made their longboat using painted pasta twirls, scrunched up paper and old jewellery. |
