PTA Fashion Show Success!

in association with dian_ward.png
Friday 20 January saw Roseburn School hall turn into a venue worthy of Paris Fashion Week!  In association with DianWard, the PTA were able to give the children, and some of the staff, their five minutes of fame!

The event was a complete sell-out and raised over £730 for the PTA and will be used to fund vocational and educational activities within the school.
The school and the PTA would like to thank all the parents that helped out on the night and, of course, the children for taking part and making it such a success!

The PTA would also like to thank DianWard, and her staff, for so generously giving up their spare time to make the event possible.

Garden Gang - October 2011

The children are having a great time in the garden. We have been weeding and cutting back some of the plants. We have also swept up the leaves and generally tidied up. We have planted lots of bulbs. The children have taken a lot of interest in their garden and every week they are making decisions and working together as a team.

The children and I would like to thank Mrs Crewe for bringing in the shredder last Thursday. Wow! Mrs Crewe took some children and showed them how it worked - they loved being involved and  some of the nursery children came down to watch as well. Mrs Aitken kindly helped and took some children showing them how to plant.

If any parent has some time the children would love you to help and to show them what can or needs to be done in a garden.

Thank you,
Mrs Findlay
Gardening is great, we love it a lot
We make the garden colourful and bright
With the help of sunlight
It makes us happy to dig, plant and grow
I wish we could do more and more

Roseburn 'Harvest' Art Exhibition - September 2011

Our first Art Exhibition in partnership with Murrayfield Parish Church was a huge success! After weeks of preparation, the work from Nursery to P7 was mounted and framed ready to be exhibited at Murrayfield. Over 70 pieces using a wide range of media were on show - displaying the wonderful talents of the pupils at Roseburn.

Friday's preview was very exciting and as the doors opened at 7pm a crowd of proud pupils and parents entered the hall. Within minutes paintings were sold! There was  a real sense of excitement and pride in the hall as the first visitors viewed the collection.

Following the preview there was an evening of entertainment including the auction of local artists' work. Together with the ticket sales and sale of pupils' work, we are delighted to announce that over £2000 was raised! Thank you to all those who attended this event and those who donated items for the auction!

On Saturday the Ghana Group from Murrayfield ran a very successful coffee morning. Mrs Denvir and Mrs Forsythe, a P7 parent, organised art activities for the children from Roseburn Primary and Murrayfield Parish. These were very popular and the children had great fun painting African masks, making necklaces and creating a 'harvest' collage from chocolate wrappers and bottle tops!

On Sunday, Murrayfield Minister, Bill Brown led a multi-faith service celebrating 'the Gifts of Harvest'. This was a wonderful family occasion where we enjoyed the light footwork of the Roseburn Highland dancers and some wonderful singing from our Ghanaian visitors.

You will be able to view these at the forthcoming 'Roseburn Primary School Art Exhibition' at Murrayfield Church ( 23rd - 25th September ) and in school during the Curriculum Evening on 4th October.

Thank you for all your support in this task!
