The Climbing Wall is installed!

Mrs Donaldson was thrilled to be the first person to traverse the new climbing wall which was installed along the back wall of the school during the summer break.

The bolt-on holds are designed in various colours to determine different levels of challenge in traversing the wall. As you can see Mrs Donaldson is using green only foot holds and red only hand holds. This makes it more difficult to traverse the wall and of course there is an extra challenge in turning the corner at the end of the wall.

The installation is thanks to Derek Cranston, Manager of Glasgow Climbing Centre who co-ordinated everything for us, to Gordon who had to do the joinery work and to Graham who decided where the holds should be placed and anchored them to the wall. Gordon used decking to protect the pipes as this was then sturdy enough to fix extra holds to.

Just as important is the fact that the PTA are responsible for very kindly offering to fund the wall. Thank you! That means thanks to all of the families who support the PTA in their fund raising!

This will be a fantastic resource for the children which we know will be well used. Mrs Donaldson put the P7s through their paces in learning about the safe use of the wall and they in turn gave sessions to the other classes to teach them how to use it, everyone desperate to ‘have a go’!

Feel free to have a go next time you are in the playground!
